HOLSTEIN FRIESIAN AVAILABILITY: Please contact us for availability
Holstein Friesian (often shortened to Holsteins in North America) are a breed of dairy cattle.
They are known as the world's highest-production dairy animals.
Holstein heifers should be bred by 11 to 14 months of age, when they weigh 317-340 kg (700-750 pounds) or 55% of adult weight.
Generally, breeders plan for Holstein heifers to calve for the first time between 21 and 24 months of age and 80% of adult bodyweight.
The gestation period is about nine and a half months.
The breed currently averages 7655 litres/year throughout 3.2 lactations, with pedigree animals averaging 8125 litres/year over an average of 3.43 lactations.
Lifetime production can average around 26,000 litres.

Jersey cattle are a small breed of dairy cattle. The breed is popular for the high butterfat content of its milk
and the lower maintenance costs due to its lower bodyweight, as well as its genial disposition.
The Jersey has a high fertility rate, calves relatively easy and has a low rate of dystocia.
Jersey cattle have a greater tendency towards post-parturient hypocalcaemia (or "milk fever") in dams,
and tend to have frail calves that require more attentive management in cold weather.
